There have been many activities and improvements going on within the Chamber in 2021.
Improvements to the June Conley Building have included a patio addition with a roof to the east side of the building. Double doors are being installed in the wall to allow access from the building to the patio, giving additional space for outdoor tables, chairs, speakers and vendors at events. This improvement has been made possible by generous donations from Next Era, BTC Bank, and other donations. Future plans for kitchen and bathroom remodels are being discussed, as our building was built thirty years ago, and has not had many improvements since then.
The Chamber was able to assist in purchasing “cuddle cradles” for the Cameron Hospital to aid newborns with special needs.
The annual Chamber Banquet was held on June 11, 2021 at the June Conley building. Once again, it was a full house enjoying a delicious smoked pork chop dinner catered by Kathy Kagay and served by Circle of Friends Sorority. The Chamber awarded several groups, businesses and individuals who were recognized for their outstanding services to our community in the past year. They were BTC Bank, Business of the Year; Maysville High School FFA Chapter, Organization of the Year; Brandy Ellis,-FFA Advisor, Teacher of the Year; Emily Whiteman, Student of the Year; Sunset Home, Health Care Provider of the Year; Gerald Greenwald, Volunteer of the Year; Kathy Kagay, Citizen of the Year. Proceeds from the ticket sales and silent auction made the Chamber a profit of $2508.62, making it a successful and profitable evening.
Officers for the 2021-2022 year were elected and will remain the same, with Kerri Huffaker serving as president, Amy Ford as vice-president, Pat Fisher-Johnson, secretary, and Missy Meek, Treasurer.
