Community CyberSecurity Seminar

The Independent Farmers Bank in association with the Maysville Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a FREE CyberSecurity Seminar on June 12, 2018. The seminar is designed for businesses, organizations, and individuals who are interested in securing their computers networks, and data from hackers.

The seminar will be presented by Jim Baird, Director of Information Security / Auditor (and Professional Paranoid) with 10-D Security out of Lenexa, KS. Mr. Baird has over 30 years of experience in Information Technology, Information Security and Business Continuity, with the past 15 years focused in the financial industry. Mr. Baird has extensive knowledge of information security controls, governance and regulatory requirements specific to financial manufacturing industries, including firms such as Worldspan, Standard & Poor’s, Black & Veatch and Hallmark.

Mr. Baird is a senior member of the Information Systems Security Association, a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) of the Disaster Recovery Institute International, a board member of the Partnership for Emergency Planning, a Tenable Certified Nessus Auditor (TCNA), a member of InfraGard and a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Jim has been honored as a recipient of ComputerWorld magazines’s “Premier 100” award.

The presentation will cover Cyber Crimes and Social Engineering. Cybercrime statistics show the majority of recent security breaches began with social engineering techniques. Frequently, the human is the weakest link in securing many of our institutions’ technical systems, company information and customer data. This presentation will include a discussion on: *Attackers and their methods; *Security breach examples; *Social Engineering techniques; *RansomWare; and *Steps you can take to protect your data.

The CyberSecurity Seminar will be held in the Community Room of the Independent Farmers Bank in Maysville from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM on June 12, 2018. A complimentary breakfast will be served.
